SAXMAX is intended to be a formula where the cars are as equal as possible and the talent of young drivers is able to dominate. The regulations for the cars are available for download here but we recognise that there will still be some areas of doubt about what is allowed. This page provides a link to a form for submission of any queries you may have. |
|
What do I need to race SAXMAX? You will need 3 documents: Obviously you will need a SAXMAX race car, You will also need appropriate safety equipent including fire-proof suit, safety helmet, gloves etc. |
Can I use data logging, digital dash or shift light? YES |
Can I use another gearbox from a Saxo? NO The ratios are published in the regs and the table here gives the wheel rotation relative to the engine that this gearbox will give. |
The negative camber on my car has been increased by "kerb damage" is this OK? NO the regulations detail the standard camber that the SAXO should have, with a tollerance. If your car is outside of this then you will have to rectify the damage to get back to standard values. |
Can I go direct to a manufacturer to negotiate purchase of the mandatory items rather than the 750 motor club? While any competitor is free to try and negotiate with any potential sponsor the parts for SAXMAX must be ordered through the club. This will ensure there is no departure from the specified parts for both safelty and technical reasons. The club has already negotiated bulk purchase agreements for these parts so the costs should be as reasonable as possible. |
Does the base car have to be a VTR or can another Saxo of the right age be used? Other Saxo shells can be identical to the VTR and therefore elligible but other components particularly engine and gearbox may be different and would need to be changed. For detailed discussion please contact Paul McMillan via the contacts section |
The regulations demand that metal braided brake pipes are fitted does this mean I have to replace all the standard metal pipes or just the rubber brake hoses? The standard metal brake pipes are OK provided they are in good condition. The rules are referring to the non-metal standard rubber hoses |
