Julian Floyd

Clerk of the Course

Age

45

Location

Towcester.  Born and grew up in Silverstone Village

Job

I am a Production Director for a small and growing electronics company

Favourite Formula and why?

Too many really.  Formula Vee is what single seater racing is all about and I enjoy endurance racing such as Britcar.  As for watching on TV is concerned NASCAR and Moto GP/BSB/WSB (NOT F1!).  Who can forget Eurocars round Mallory - exciting or what!

Race driving experience

Years ago I did most of a course with Jim Russell at Silverstone - No talent or funds to race (and a degree to do)!

How long and history with 750MC

I started marshalling at 750 events in 1977 (with the Silverstone Incident Team) and have been clerking since 1999

Other clubs you have worked for

I have done a variety of things for a variety of clubs over the years.  In addition to the 750MC I am Clerk of the Course for the Fun Cup, Britcar (for James Tucker) and HSCC (including the Silverstone Classic and Walter Hayes Trophy).

Favourite circuit and why

It has to be Silverstone as I have been going there all my life.  In the UK Brands Indy Circuit is always worth the trip.  I have been lucky enough to have visited some of the worlds greatest circuits in a variety of capacities - Pau, Texas Motor Speedway (for NASCAR, only 250,000 spectators!), Zhuhai, Changwon, Spa and probably the most amazing of all Macau (in the old Teddy Yip years)

Best Meeting you have worked at and why

Probably the first year I visited Macau (as an Observer), a combination of the world's greatest street circuit and visiting the Far East for the first time.  This years the highlight (so far) was Clerking the Britcar 4 hour evening race at Spa

Outside interests

I am trying to learn to fly a flex wing Microlight, this is taking ages due to our wonderful weather.  I enjoy visiting interesting Countries particularly the Far East.

Why you just lurve Saxmax

It is a great privilege to be involved with such a special series, the enthusiasm of the competitors takes a lot to beat.  I hope to see many of these competitors over the years progress through the sport (whoever makes it first into NASCAR or Indy Racing please remember to send me some tickets!).
